My First Post on WordPress

After a very successful migrating of my blog from Live Journal to wordpress, something which I was a little apprehensive about doing, here I am on what seems to be a far less cluttered site.  I hope my readers will find it easy to use.  I particularly think it will be much easier for people to leave comments.

So enjoy.  I write about anything and everything.  sometimes i rant but I believe its my prerogative to do so in my blog!  At least it gives those around me a break!

About Mel Griffiths

I live and work in Nottingham, England and am blind. This blog is often centred around things that happen to me because of being blind. This is my space to write and sometimes people will disagree with what I write, but its the one place I have in which to be frank and honest. I also like to reflect on the funnier side of life from time to time.

Hi Mel! I really don’t agree with your opinion that the LJ website is too cluttered and inaccessible: you could have perhaps stuck with LJ but used the mobile site which is far less cluttered, and the ordinary site is perfectly accessible as far as I’m concerned. However, this is your blog, you can have it wherever you like, and I’ve added this new WordPress blog to my Internet Explorer favourites, so I intend to read it regularly. I’ll miss having you among the people on my LJ friends page, but it’s good that I can still read about your life and your opinions elsewhere. Keep up the good work!

I agree, Live Journal is accessible. However, for a non LJ member to comment, they have to solve a capcha before their post can go through. I also like the fact that on my blog now, most of the links that people see relate only to my blog, they don’t have to work through a lot of general links to get to where they want to be.

I too will miss you on my LJ, but I agree wordpress loooks simpler. I might have to try it out for myself. I had an accessibility etc blog over on blogger a while ago. It’s still there, but I don’t really like blogger all that much.
One thing I would like to do is see who you follow on here. Do you know if there’s a way to do that?
    Take care.

Just found your blog on WP rather than LJ and have been catching up with days in the life of Mel. Keep on blogging – I find myself looking back at stuff I wrote five years ago on my temporarily defunct Blogger account with amusement and amazement. Speaking of which I must update it diverting any readers to frexandspex.

    Will catch up soon.
    Adam

Hi Adam, I can’t believe you’re visiting such exotic places but still finding time to read my blog of all things!

However, seeing as you are, perhaps you can help? Was just wondering what you thought of my blog in terms of visual usability and layout? I found it impossible to choose a layout as it wasn’t obvious, apart from colour, which would be a good one to choose. Any thoughts would be very useful.

All the best to you and Lynn and keep writing, its fascinating.
