A Dimmer Future?

Went to Sainsbury’s yesterday, and whilst I was waiting at customer services for someone to assist me, the lady behind the desk very kindly drew my attention to an offer which they had on. It was 5 60 watt energy saving light bulbs for 50p. Brilliant offer, but 60 watt bulbs just don’t throw out enough light for me. I explained this to her and asked if they had the same offer on the 100 watt bulbs. She said that they didn’t, and that they were in fact phasing out the 100s to encourage people to save energy.

I’ve heard stories recently that standard light bulbs are being phased out, which I know is a real problem for some partially sighted people who can’t tolerate the light given off by energy saving bulbs. I personally will struggle big time if they phase out the 100 bulb as well. Should I be panic buying?

    uh, yes
If you look on BBC you’ll find we do actually get a bit of coverage here.
You’re right, I hate them too as the more difuse light dissolves the shadows that I rely on to get around without killing myself or the filing cabinet. It must be much worse for those with more vision though.
You can get these halogen bulbs, but they are still like £6 prt bulb.
Ig \i ertr you, I’d panic buy for a while until the prices of the halogens come down some, which the government says will happen. I’m not so sure myself though.
    Take care
