OMD and China Crisis

Went to see OMD at the Royal Concert Hall last night. Last saw them probably about 20 years ago which is sadly showing my age! They were great, played all the old stuff and obviously have a real following still judging by the reaction of the audience.

Was well chuffed to learn that the support band was China Crisis. They certainly brought back some memories. After all, we all remember Black Man Ray, but I’d completely forgotten about King in the Catholic Style and Christian which were great tracks. They were an excellent live band too, very tight.

As ever, the help we received at the concert hall was fantastic. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted by the manager who took us to the bar as we’d arrived early and sent someone to take us to our seats in plenty of time for the performance. Someone even came to us during the interval to see if we wanted anything. So naturally we had ice cream! It’d have been rude to refuse!

Because we were very late booking these tickets, the only seating we could get was in one of the boxes. However, although we were sideways on to the stage, we were very close to it, even I could see people moving on it so it must have been a good view! We had lots of room to stretch our legs out and free standing chairs, so possibly a good place for blind or partially sighted people to book especially if you wanted to take your guide dog along.

About Mel Griffiths

I live and work in Nottingham, England and am blind. This blog is often centred around things that happen to me because of being blind. This is my space to write and sometimes people will disagree with what I write, but its the one place I have in which to be frank and honest. I also like to reflect on the funnier side of life from time to time.
