Just made an enquiry to the Trent FM Arena about tickets for War of the Worlds next June. They’re hugely expensive, £55 each, but we knew that and were considering paying. That is, however, until we learnt that to pay with a card incurrred an extra 10% booking fee. This would mean an extral £11 on top of our ticket price.
For what? For a better service? No. For better seating? No. Just for the convenience of using our card. I know it costs companies to make credit card transactions, but it certainly doesn’t cost them 10% of the transaction.
In our opinion its just greedy. Its extortionate and we won’t be booking. We expect to pay maybe 2 or 3%, or a £5 booking fee, but not 10% of what would already be a very expensive night. We asked the person we spoke to to feed that back, she says she will but its highly likely that she won’t.
The sad thing is though that our not making the booking won’t actually make anything any better for the future. That’s obviously the policy at the Arena now, so its a cost we’ll have to face every time we want to go there.
