Another Loss to our British Identity

Gordon Brown, whilst in post as Chancellor, approved the removal of the Britannia symbol from the back of our 50p pieces, in order that it can be replaced by a symbol that “more accurately represents our modern British identity’.

People were invited on local radio this morning to make suggestions as to what it should be replaced with. There was obviously a lot of incredulity about this as suggestions ranged from an open landfill site with the slogan “rubbish Britain”, a hoodie or a chav.

About Mel Griffiths

I live and work in Nottingham, England and am blind. This blog is often centred around things that happen to me because of being blind. This is my space to write and sometimes people will disagree with what I write, but its the one place I have in which to be frank and honest. I also like to reflect on the funnier side of life from time to time.
