Inconsiderate and stupid dog owners

It sometimes really amazes me just how stupid some dog owners can be. I was walking through the centre of Birmingham yesterday and someone came towards me with two dogs on a long lead. The two dogs in question proceeded to go for Jade and the owners really had no control over them at all.

I was somewhat rude to the man, primarily because I was scared. This is a bit of a shame because I was with someone who I didn’t know very well and I think they were a bit shocked. I also ended up feeling in the wrong because the dog owner said he’d apologised and that, in his opinion was enough.

It wasn’t enough. Dogs in public places like that should be under control. If they’re likely to be aggressive, they should be on a short lead, and possibly muzzled. If a small child had been in the way as they ran forward the consequences could have been far worse. Also if Jade had been injured and this had affected her work, this too could have been very serious.

About Mel Griffiths

I live and work in Nottingham, England and am blind. This blog is often centred around things that happen to me because of being blind. This is my space to write and sometimes people will disagree with what I write, but its the one place I have in which to be frank and honest. I also like to reflect on the funnier side of life from time to time.
